Run The Jewels
Run the Jewels is composed of Atlanta-based hip-hop artist Killer Mike and Brooklyn-based producer and rapper, El-P. This electrifying and critically acclaimed duo launched in 2013 following years of accolades for their respective solo work. Their eponymous debut album and Run the Jewels 2 were both highly lauded, and earned “Best New Music” distinctions from Pitchfork, as well as nearly universal acclaim from other music critics. Most recently, the duo released a feline-themed remix album aptly titled Meow The Jewels.
Run the Jewels is celebrated for its unique production style, lyrical delivery and creativity. In addition to serving as a popular act at countless music festivals over the past two years, they also opened for Jack White during his January 2015 show at Madison Square Garden. Sure to deliver a high-energy and lyrically engaging respite from midterms, check out Run the Jewels at the Ogden on Oct. 20 and Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. Supporting acts will be Boots, Fashawn and CUZ Lightyear.
Israel Vibration
Reggae group Israel Vibration will be taking the stage at the Ogden on Oct. 22 at 8 p.m. to provide some jams and good vibes. Israel Vibration consists of Lascelle “Wiss” Bulgin, Cecil “Skeleton” Spence and Albert “Apple Gabriel” Craig — all from Jamaica. The members of Israel Vibration were afflicted with polio as children and first met while attempting to recover from the virus.
Israel Vibration is best known for its infectious, harmonious sound, as well as its intimate live performances. The respected reggae group will be preceded by opening acts from Highway50 and the Horns of Destruction.
Shakey Graves
In the mood to let loose after a long week? You’re in luck — the unique and multi-talented Shakey Graves will be playing the Ogden. Alejandro Rose-Garcia, who goes by the stage name Shakey Graves, has blended country, blues and pop music to create his own unique style. His most recent release was And the War Came in 2014.
Perhaps best-known for his hit song “Roll the Bones,” Shakey Graves is sure to deliver a memorable performance, as he always brings energy to the stage. He is also known for bringing out a live band to join him on some tracks. If you are a fan of smooth vocals, as well as performers who excel at multiple instruments, check out Shakey Graves and opener, Tennis, at the Ogden on Oct. 23 and Oct. 24 at 9 p.m.
Flux Pavilion
Flux Pavilion, the famed English electronic musician and producer behind the hit “I Can’t Stop,” will indeed be making a stop at the 1st Bank Center to perform his debut studio album, Tesla. Flux Pavilion is a notable name in the electronic music scene and is guaranteed to produce exhilarating sounds and enormous beat drops. Simply put, it will be hard to stay seated, as this artist is a master of getting an audience engaged in his music. Bring a few friends and your best dance moves for a sensational night out.
Flux Pavilion will play at the 1st Bank Center Saturday, Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m. The opening acts will include Keys N Krates, LOUDPVCK, NGHTMRE, Diskord and Decadon.
