The University of Colorado hosted the CU Invitational on Friday and Saturday, welcoming schools along the Front Range and non-University affiliated athletes to be a part of the event.

Colorado sophomore Ana Holland ran the 100-meter dash in 11.63 seconds, the fastest in school history. In addition, 4×100-meter relay saw the team of Holland, sophomores Tashay Brown and Alex Peters and senior Eileen Gehring complete the race in 44.98 seconds, the second-fastest time in school history.

It was an all-around good day for the Buffs, who took 16 first-place finishes and had 10 other top-three finishes.

Freshman Dani Jones won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:08.97, whereas sophomore Rajon O’Quinn won the 200-meter dash after completing it in 26.63.

On the men’s side, sophomore Jaysean Skrine ran 10.68 seconds on the 100-meter. The 1500-meter run saw senior Morgan Pearson take the win with a time of 3:49.29. Junior Jaron Thomas won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.24.

Colorado swept the 800-meter run top three with sophomore Zach Perrin, juniors Nick Harris and senior Connor Winter running times of 1:49.85, 1:51.33 and 1:51.91, respectively.

The 400-meter hurdles saw the Buffs take the win with freshman Trenton Stringari completing the event in 52.81 seconds. Fellow freshman Duane McClurkin Jr. won the 200-meter dash, finishing with a time of 21.43.

Field events saw the rest of the Buffs’ victories. These included freshman Delaney Hall throwing the javelin 129-04.25. O’Quinn took first again at the high jump, leaping 5-07.75. Sophomore Mariah Walker also won the shotput after hucking it 49-05.75.

Men’s field took home two wins. Senior Brady Rutt threw a discus distance of 171-08.00. McClurkin Jr. also won a second event, reaching 6-07.00 in the high jump.
