French electronic music: St. Germain
Ludovic Navarre — or as he is better known, St. Germain — will bring his eccentricity to the Ogden Theatre on Wednesday night. The French DJ fuses danceable percussion with traditional Malian music to produce a unique product, to say the least. His albums, Boulevard and Tourist, influenced artists such as Daft Punk and Air. It’s been 15 years since his last album, and he’s back in the studio ready to put out more electronic grooves. Navarre’s music mixes jazz and blues seamlessly. He is sure to give listeners a relaxed and sensual listening experience.

Eclectic Alt-Rock: Wolf Alice
Wolf Alice brings a whole spectrum of influences into its music. While the music is alternative rock at the core, the band’s songs range from a dreamy sort of rock-and-roll to head-banging tunes reminiscent of `90s grunge. Band members include vocalist and guitarist Ellie Rowsell, guitarist Joff Oddie, drummer Joel Amey and bassist Theo Ellis. This London-based band received the Best Breakthrough Artist award at the UK Festival Awards and was named iTunes’ “Best New Artist/Band” of 2014.
Each band member emphasizes the story-like appeal of each of their songs. The band’s music isn’t going to be the same across the board; with different moods and emotions comes different sounding songs, and that’s what Wolf Alice seems to focus on in its music.
Wolf Alice performs at Bluebird Theater on April 14 at 8:00 p.m. with opener Slaves.
Heart-felt pop rock: Parachute
After two and a half years of work, Parachute looks to promote its newest album, Wide Awake. It looks as though the band’s sensitive tunes have grown up to gain a more artistic edge. These are songs that put emphasis on love and heartache, anything to satisfy your inner teenager. As summer slowly but surely approaches, you can’t help but wonder what kind of romantic summer movies will use a Parachute song. This trio promises to bring an intimate performance for its fans.
The band has produced successful singles like “She is Love,” which topped at number one on iTunes, and it intends to do the same with Wide Awake. The band members of Parachute have grown up now and are ready to give fans a more mature album.
Parachute performs at the Gothic Theatre at 7:30 p.m. with openers John McLaughlin and Jerad Finck.
