The University of Colorado Buffaloes (4-2, 2-1 Pac-12) fell on the road to the USC Trojans (3-3, 2-2 Pac-12) 21-17 on Saturday.

After failing to score in the first half and trailing 14-0 heading into the third quarter, the Buffs fought back but fell just short.

The Trojans did a lot to keep the Buffaloes in the game. Colorado’s offense was ineffective for large portions of the game and punted seven times compared to just three for the Trojans. CU’s defense had an interception and three fumble recoveries in the contest, but gave up 539 yards of total offense to USC.

Freshman quarterback Steven Montez completed 24 of 40 passes for 192 yards to go along with a touchdown and an interception.

Junior wide receiver Bryce Bobo was a constant threat for the Buffaloes’ offense. He caught 10 passes for 83 yards on the day. Junior tailback Phillip Lindsay struggled early on, but got into a groove as the game progressed and racked up 57 yards on 11 carries.

Colorado went 6-17 on third downs on the day and struggled at times to pick up decent chunks of yards. Montez averaged just 4.9 yards per completion.

The CU Independent will have a full game update coming shortly.
