A man arrested for second-degree assault and third-degree trespassing at a Pearl Street club is believed to be a CU football player who had an altercation with one of the club’s bouncers, the Denver Post first reported.
At approximately 12:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, police officers responded to a call from Tahona Tequila Bistro regarding an altercation between a customer and bouncers, resulting in Kevin Dement’s arrest. Dement is currently in Boulder County Jail awaiting a court appearance scheduled for Monday, according to the post.
Dement’s name and birth date match that of CU walk-on football player Kevin Dement, although an initial incident report did not confirm that the man in custody is affiliated with Colorado’s football program.
Dement, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound senior from Centennial, Colo., is slated to graduate from CU this May.
The Buffaloes’ roster for the upcoming 2018 season does not include Dement, who walked on to the team as a wide receiver in 2016. He recorded no statistics as a Buffalo but dressed for a total of six of the team’s games from 2016-2017.
Head coach Mike MacIntyre has yet to comment on the incident.
