Freshman Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will be a guest speaker at the Boulder County Democrats’ 44th Annual Truman Dinner in the Glenn Miller Ballroom at 6 p.m. this Saturday.

The Truman Dinner is held to honor students who aspire to go to graduate school to pursue public service and who have demonstrated records of community service.

“Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez is not only a great friend, but an amazing colleague whose ability to speak truth to power has inspired millions of people across our country, including many here in Colorado,” Rep. Joe Neguse, who represents Boulder and other parts of the Front Range, said in a statement from Boulder County Democrats.

The event, hosted by Joe Neguse, will be awarding 60 scholarship recipients. Forty-eight recipients are nominated by community groups, while the other 12 are chosen by the Truman Dinner team and BoCo Dems officers.

Tickets for the main ballroom event are currently sold out. However, tickets are available to two overflow rooms where the event can be watched via live stream. Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez will also be making an appearance. Tickets can be purchased here.

More information on eligibility for the Truman Scholarship can be found on the University of Colorado website.
