The University of Colorado Boulder football team defeated in-state rivals Colorado State University 28-9 in the 93rd Rocky Mountain Showdown. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders led the Buffaloes with an impressive performance, throwing for 310 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73% of his passes. Travis Hunter and LaJohntay Wester accounted for all four touchdowns, with Hunter collecting 13 catches and 100 yards. Colorado’s rushing game also improved, averaging 5.7 yards per carry, led by Micah Welch with 65 yards.
Colorado’s defense shined, forcing four turnovers and holding Colorado State to just 9 points. The Buffaloes capitalized on the Rams’ mistakes, scoring 14 points off turnovers. The game had many moments of tension, including a verbal confrontation between Shedeur Sanders and CSU quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi and high tension between fans.
The Buffaloes now prepare for their first Big-12 matchup against Baylor this weekend, with Colorado slightly favored to win.
