The University of Colorado football team was expected to finish No. 11 in the Big 12 this year. They are now No. 2 and have a viable shot at the Big 12 championship following two opponents’ losses during Week 10.

On Saturday, Iowa State University lost to Texas Tech University 23-22. Iowa State, previously undefeated, is now tied with the Buffs for second place, with each team having 4-1 in conference records.

If Colorado and ISU win the rest of their seasons, a CU win over Texas Tech will serve as a tiebreaker and bring the Buffs to the Big 12 championship. The two teams will not meet this season.

Kansas State University, which narrowly defeated the Buffs in October, also lost Saturday to the University of Houston 24-19. They now sit third in the conference. No. 9 Brigham Young University is now the only undefeated team in the Big 12 and remains in first place.

Additionally, due to multiple ranked team losses, Colorado moved up two spots in the Week 11 Associated Press College Football Poll to No. 21. ISU dropped to No. 17 and Kansas State fell to No. 22.

Colorado will play Texas Tech on Saturday at 2 p.m. MST. The game will be streamed on Fox. The network’s pregame show, Big Noon Kickoff, will be in Lubbock, Texas for the game.
