“The Limo Hour”: A parked limousine turns into CU’s late-night talk show

As she walked down Boulder’s Broadway Street on her way to teach her regular class at CorePower yoga, University of Colorado Boulder senior Dani Friedman was doing her usual; venting her never-ending cycle of thoughts to her followers on TikTok. This time, the topic of conversation was new: a business proposal.

Every day when Friedman walked to work, she would pass by a white limousine with CU Boulder’s logo on it, thinking to herself, “Whoever owns this needs to make a business.”

She explained the idea for a late-night inspired talk show taking place within the limo called, “The Limo Hour”, uploaded the video to TikTok, and within a few hours received over 30,000 views.

The owners of the limo were quick to reach out and inquire about her ideas. They had purchased the limo with hopes of using it for a shuttle service to Red Rocks Amphitheatre, a favorite of many CU students, but due to issues with insurance the limo had been out of service. Thats until Friedman came along.

Full of ideas and possibilities for this new business, Friedman began assembling a content creation and editing team. Then, it was time to begin promoting the idea as a late-night show on Instagram.

Six-weeks into the venture, the account already has over 2,000 followers on Instagram.

Now every weekend, the limo welcomes students and iconic Boulder residents. Popular among the student body through their roles on social media, students Alexandra El-Amin, “Chicago Barbie,” and Stevie Ott, or “Stevers” were featured on The Limo Hour as celebrities.

Another campus celebrity, known to many CU students as “King Wook” or “Sheba,” a local unhoused resident who has gained popularity through his long stay in the community, was also featured on Limo Hour.

“It’s a lot easier than you would think to get people into the limo,” said editor and co-host of The Limo Hour, Sarah Wulff. “It would be different if I was just driving my car around but no people want to be in there, they want to know what it’s like.”

While The Limo Hour has not struggled to gain guests like ROAM Boulder, a life and style publication, TEDxCU, CU Boulder On The Rocks acapella group and Boulder based band Sunkissd, Wulff notes that the limo is a lot smaller than most people think.

“It’s a squeeze back there,” said Wulff. “When we had the band back there it was like more than 45 minutes of preparation and shoving everything in there.”

So far, The Limo Hour has hosted a Bachelor Night, talent expositions, double dates and birthday celebrations.

“The Limo Hour in general is such a touch on college culture,” said Wulff. “CU is already so interconnected and everyone knows each other, so it’s just been so fun to meet random people and get people from opposite sides of everyone’s lives together in one little limo.”

As a student on a pre-medicine track who recently took the Medical College Admission Test, Friedman has enjoyed her time hosting The Limo Hour and using the business as an outlet to express her creative side.

“I’m always thinking and I’m always talking, so this shines a big light on something I thrive in,” said Friedman. “It’s given me, for the first time in my college career, an opportunity to excel in and explore it more.”

Wulff expressed a similar sentiment of The Limo Hour giving her a space to thrive in and helping her be more outgoing.

Friedman’s goal is to continue featuring campus and community celebrities as well as host themed and sponsored events such as nerf gun battles, weddings, haunted houses and more. Only six weeks into the business, and with many more important college events to come throughout her senior year, Friedman is excited to see the business grow.
