A safety alert regarding a hazing incident at the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity was released by the University of Colorado Boulder on Thursday.
The fraternity was placed on an interim suspension as a result of the report.
According to the CU safety alert, the incident occurred on Dec. 1, and was reported the following day. The CU Boulder Police Department is investigating. Anyone with information was encouraged to contact the Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution via their website.
The Division of Student Life defines hazing as, “Any action or situation that recklessly or intentionally endangers the health, safety, or welfare of, or causes a risk of bodily injury to, an individual for the purpose of initiation, participation, admission into, or affiliation with any organization or CU Boulder group.”
The interim suspension placed on the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity terminated all fraternity activities during the investigation. The length of the interim suspension was not specified. The alert additionally noted two other anonymous reports of extreme or severe hazing this week.
