The top conference in women’s collegiate golf came together this past weekend in Pullman, Wash., at the Pac-12 Conference Championships. Many programs from around the country performed up to expectations, but the CU Buffaloes did not.
The Buffs performed well at times and were at one point only one stroke behind the leaders during Sunday’s final round, but in the clutch the pressure got to the Buffs. Colorado ended up finishing seven strokes behind the champion University of California and sixth overall in the tournament.

“I was just really nervous today,” said senior Emily Talley to the CU Sports Information Department. “I couldn’t make any putts. That’s where I was getting in trouble.”
Even though Talley said she struggled Sunday, she still tied sophomore Alex Stewart for the best CU performance at the Pac-12 Championships with an overall score of 221, tying for 9th in the field.
Head coach Anne Kelly said she was impressed with the performance.
“Having two top 10 at our first Pac-12 Championships is pretty good,” Kelly said to the SID. “It’s not an easy thing to do anywhere, especially with as much talent as a field like this.”
For now, the team is focusing on the little things they can do to improve their game and, more importantly, getting through the last week of class and final exams.
“With the last week of school and then finals coming up before the regional, we will just need to focus on finals, regroup quickly and then go to regionals,” Kelly said to the SID.
