The CU women’s golf team faltered in its final tournament of the fall season, finishing 13th out of 15 teams competing at the Alamo Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.
At the Briggs Ranch Golf Course, the Buffs finished Tuesday’s final round with a 22-over par 310, giving them a combined score of 58-over par 922 for the entire event.
The University of Oklahoma won the tournament by eight strokes, leading from start to finish. Texas A&M University came in second.
This was the Buffs’ final tournament of the fall season. Junior Jenny Coleman was the Buffs’ top performer, finishing tied for 36th with a score of 223. Freshman Alexis Keating was second for Colorado with a score of 230, landing her a spot in 56th place.
The three-day event hosted by the University of Texas at San Antonio showed the Buffs that they have some improvements to make before the spring season.
Coleman and Keating posted 3-over pars on the last day, while they each had an even-par round in the first two days. Maribel Lopez Porras of Tulane University won the tournament with a score of 209. Her worst round was an even-par 72.
The Buffs’ spring season does not start until Feb. 11-13 at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
The team will have a little over three months to work out the issues that plagued them this fall.
