According to campus Spokesman Ryan Huff, the Republican National Committee “has informed the University of Colorado Boulder that it will provide 50 additional student and faculty tickets for Wednesday’s Republican presidential candidate debate.”
100 tickets are already available to university personnel, and the extra 50 will bring Wednesday’s GOP debate audience to just over 1,000.
“We are grateful to the RNC for responding to our request to allow more students and faculty to witness this historic event on our campus,” said CU-Boulder Chancellor Philip P. DiStefano. “In addition to those attending the debate, we have many related opportunities for our students, whether that’s attending a watch party, participating in a faculty-led discussion of the issues, volunteering with CNBC’s production or attending classroom presentations led by prominent journalists.”
Tickets have been distributed to faculty and students whose areas of study have a direct educational tie to the American election process, politics, its media coverage and the economy, which will be the main topic of the debate. The 50 extra tickets will be given out in the same way.
Tickets have also been provided directly to the CU Student Government to distribute to students they deem as deserving.
The debate, titled “Your Money, Your Vote: The Republican Presidential Debate” will be broadcast to a worldwide audience on CNBC from CU Boulder’s Coors Events Center.
