CU women’s tennis struggles over weekend

The University of Colorado’s women’s tennis team had a tough time on the road this weekend.

Against the University of Washington on Friday and the University of Oregon on Saturday, the Buffs failed to score a single point, losing both matches 7–0.

The losses bring the Buffs’ record to 7–11 overall and 0–7 in Pac-12 play. The Buffs have lost 22 straight conference match-ups dating back to 2010.

Washington came into Friday’s match on a seven-game losing streak, but the Buffs couldn’t take advantage. The Huskies are still ranked 44th in the nation thanks to a very tough schedule. So far, Washington has played only three non-ranked teams — including Colorado — and beaten all of them.

Oregon was 1–6 in conference play going into Saturday’s match and had upset No. 43 University of Utah the day before. The Buffs remained without a win when playing the Ducks in Oregon, with a record of 0–4 all-time.

The Buffs still have no wins in conference doubles play, having lost all 21 matches against Pac-12 opponents. It gets worse: CU has not won two points on the road in a conference match since losing 5-2 at Texas Tech University in April 2010.

The Buffs continue their road matches against the Pac-12 next Friday when they visit No. 28 University of Arizona, and Saturday when they play No. 29 Arizona State University. They conclude their season on April 21 at Utah University.
